Fins

Have you ever found yourself endlessly roaming the internet? You search one thing on Google, click the link, then see another link that interests you and click it, then another - next thing you know you’re floating through an endless void of hyperlinks, so easily prevented by a ‘close tab’ and a click of an “X” in a red box yet an action seemingly so difficult to undertake. Well somehow in this process at 2am last night accompanied with a half tub of Ben&Jerries and total effort to stop procrastinating from doing my homework down the drain, I found these guys.

Yes, of course it’s yet another Indie/Alt boy band with the cute nerdy Michael Cera/Jessie Eisenberg look. I can’t get enough of it. Ladies and Gentlemen (Or according to my blog audience demographic that I’m apparently attracting Canadians Teens and Middle Aged Asian Men) I present to you…Fins.

These 4 guys are a Boston based band who combine eerie electronica synthesizers with an off-beat rhythm with added unique vocals from the lead singer. Not forgetting the Alt-Jesque style and logo.

I'm shocked purely by how underrated they are as they're very talented -although part of me smiles to myself in great delight as I can have them all to myself. The song above makes me seriously miss the summer, but it's that’s okay as I can tell it'll be on my playlist for next summer.

Now, I was given some constructive criticism from a pro-music blogger that -quite ironically- I don't criticize enough on my band reviews, I only give good reviews which could come across as me kiss-assing the artists. Despite the reason why I praise these bands so highly is because I think they're awesome hence why I decided to review them on my blog, I shall criticize. I will always take on advice.

SO, HERE GOES MY FIRST CRITICISM:

Firstly, Fins has no twitter page or a Myspace - but then again Myspace died out when Hillary Duff was actually in the charts and the Simpson's made a movie.. so thats understandable.

Secondly, they don't do enough gigs cause they're all still in high school.

Finally -and most importantly- their band merch is only one t-shirt AND it doesn't ship to the UK which sucks.

Although considering they've only been around for a year, they're doing bloody well.

So please do comment below and check out other peoples comments. BE NICE. Tell me what you think of them and yeah. Enjoy the music.

Little comets

**NOTE TO READER: You've found yourself wondering into the abyss of my 14 year old mind, I'm flattered you've got here but any post from 2012 or prior is bound to be cringey, nevertheless, do enjoy my pubescent faffling and my evident short attention span to the point where I'm literally going off topic every 3 seconds. Good Luck**

Lets set the scene.  Its spring/summer 2012 (Sprummer?) and I'm sat in the living room eating my cheerios mixed with coco-pops -couldn't choose- when suddenly this advert for Radox shower gel comes on.

Now if you're thinking "Erm...okay? Were are you going with this?" Patience young grasshopper (although ironically you're probably older than me) and let me finish. So the advert starts playing and I'm not really aware of  the television because i'm too interested in the spectacular fusion of crackling chocolaty sensations with little O-shaped whole grain goodness in my cereal bowl but my attention is instantly diverted when this amazing song (linked in the video above) is played in the advert.

No song has ever taken such a reaction out of me. I mean, usually when I hear a good song I be like "Yeah, bro this tune is keewl, I'll shazam it later or something..." but, no. Not this time. As if I had no control over my body I get up and start dancing all over my living room rug. I then rewind the advert over and over and over and-well you get the point- and I'm thinking "Thank you, Sky box for having live pause/rewind...I love you baby." Then the Sky box replies to me "Haha lol. no f u" and says "Live pause unavailable due to lack of space on disk" or something and I cant  rewind or fast forward or anything then loose the advert. The song was gone forever. I had lost it. Well until the next Radox advert would come on but I wasn't going to wait that long to be re-united with that special song. We had a connection. So I was stood there staring at the telly like "FUUUUUU-GOOGLE!" and run to my iPad to Google the song.

After ten whole minutes of searching (Which is a billion years of google searching time) I found the song. It was these geniuses, Little Comets.

These blokes are a  cute indie trio from Jarrow and Newcastle upon-Tyne -No, I've never heard of it either but asuming its somewere up north England- and they are just so likable. With their unique guitar riffs and their typical indie calls, yelps and hollers, you'd be a fool not to check out their new album "Life is Elsewhere" or the album my Radox advert song came -The song turned out to be called "Dancing Song"- From the album "In Search Of Elusive Little Comets."

They may call themselves little but they've got big things in store ahead of them...

Tokyo Police Club

**Note to reader: This was my first band review, I have decided not to delete or edit it like the others because of the sentimental value and proof of grammatical progress I have made over 2/3 years but please don't laugh at the cheesy puns and poor spelling I was 12**

okay,i lied, i said that i was doing reviews on up and coming bands.well,i think that tokyo police club has alredy made it!well,in the US and canada, anyway.however,in -my hometown-london, i guess they could do with a lot more popularity! lets beggin:

TOKYO POLICE CLUB is a canadian indie band made up by four awesome dudes who go by the name of DAVID MONKS-bass and singer,GREG ASLOP-drummer,GRAHAM WRIGHT-keyboardist and JOSH HOOK-guitarist.

formed in 2005 (in a basement, just playing for fun,)TOKYO POLICE CLUB are an engergetic band wich -no matter what mood you were in- after listening to just any one of thier tracks, they get you pumped and give you the feeling  that you can take on anything.

for example,my personal favourite "wait up (boots of danger)" is a fantastic song from thier album "champ" wich i usually listen to before i go skatepark. And you know the big ramp, and i'm not talking that biggish ramp, but i'm talking about the HUGE ramp.yes the one locals call the death ramp and its the very same ramp on wich "jimmy no legs" lost his legs 20 years ago. well after listening to "wait up (boots of danger)" i go on that ramp and it feels like a little hill to me.that is untill i'm nearly at the bottom of the ramp and i start having second thoughts! but, anyway,my point is that Tokyo Police Club are so good that they can accualy change your mood..thats the affect their music has!

so for all you indie lovers or peeps who wanna listen to something new, join the tokyo police club and get one of their three albums "a lesson in crime","elephant shell"or "champ" and i can nearly grantee it will be worth it! heck, buy all three of their albums if you wanna. Young, Fresh and Canadian. What more could you ask for from an indie band?
